Statement of faith
- We believe with perfect faith that Yeshua (Jesus) is the Messiah, the Son of Elohim. Yeshua was born of a virgin and conceived of the Holy Spirit. Yeshua is the literal word of YaHWeH manifested in the flesh.
- We believe with perfect faith that Yeshua was crucified on Passover, and rose from the dead three full days later.
- We believe with perfect faith that Yeshua is the only way to the Father.
- We believe with perfect faith that salvation is by grace alone, and that faith is revealed in our desire to obey the laws (Torah) of Elohim. Faith without works is dead.
- We believe with perfect faith: Hear O Israel, YaHWeH is our Elohim; YaHWeH is one. (Deut. 6:4)
- We believe with perfect faith in the inspiration of the original autographs of the scriptures we believe in one complete cannon of scripture, undivided into two testaments.
- We believe with perfect faith in the everlasting, unalterable law of Elohim; no law can ever be added to it or taken away from it. While some of the commandments may not be presently applicable in our dispersion, they are nonetheless eternal, and will be fully restored.
- We believe with perfect faith that the oral laws of the Rabbis are not binding upon the children of YaHWeH; and this includes all Church dogma that does not line up with the Torah.
- We believe with perfect faith in the resurrection of the dead.
- We believe with perfect faith in the name of Elohim, and that name is YaHWeH (YHWH), and rejects the use of the titles (The LORD, God, Adonai...) in replace of His name. This is not to suggest that YaHWeH is not Lord/Adonai, but only that His name is not to be hidden by this and other titles.
- We believe with perfect faith in the two house restoration of all Israel.
- We believe with perfect faith that the New (renewed) covenant is for the two houses of Israel alone. All who desire to take part in the New (renewed) covenant must become seeds of Abraham (Isaac and Jacob). The new (renewed covenant) is not for the Gentiles.
- We believe in perfect faith in the gift of the Holy Spirit (Ruach Hakodesh); we believe in the gift of tongues, as well as the gifts of the spirit.
- We believe with perfect faith in the Seventh day Sabbath. (sunset Friday to sunset Saturday)
- We believe with perfect faith in immersion in water in the name of Yeshua the Messiah (Acts 2:38).
- We believe with perfect faith that the only definition for sin is transgression of the Torah (The commandments of Elohim).
We believe with perfect faith that Yeshua (Jesus) is the Messiah, the Son of Elohim. Yeshua was born of a virgin and conceived of the Holy Spirit. Yeshua is the literal word of YaHWeH manifested in the flesh.
Our belief stands firm that Yeshua (Jesus) is the literal spoken word of YaHWeH our Elohim; he did not pre-exist in any form other than this. In the beginning, when YaHWeH said, “Let there be light, the light came about by the power of His word; it is the word of YaHWeH that created light. This fact brings clarity to several scriptures in the apostolic writings:
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with Elohim.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.
Joh 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
We believe that the various “Christophanies” in the scriptures, are in actuality manifestations of the spoken word of YaHWeH. We do not believe in the Churches doctrine of “The Trinity” or any other dogma that proclaims a pre-existing Christ as the Son of Elohim in any form, other than the literal spoken word of our Elohim.
We believe in the miraculous virgin birth of Messiah. Yeshua was conceived of the Holy Spirit (power of YaHWeH) when the Angel spoke the word into the ears and womb of Miriam (Mary).
Luk 1:30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with Elohim.
Luk 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Yeshua.
Luk 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and YaHWeH Elohim shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
Luk 1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
The word of Elohim cannot be less than Elohim. As the Word, Yeshua is YaHWeH Elohim in every way. As Yeshua the Messiah, he is a man of like passions and weaknesses as any of us.
Heb 2:16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
Heb 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to Elohim, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
Heb 2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted.
Death and Resurrection
We believe with perfect faith that Yeshua was crucified on Passover, and rose from the dead three full days later.
We believe that Yeshua the Messiah was crucified on the holyday of Passover and that he was in the grave for three literal days and three literal nights. Yeshua (Jesus) was not crucified on a Friday and resurrected on Sunday morning. This is a very important issue regarding proof of his Messiahship. When Yeshua was asked for a sign, to prove he was the hoped for Messiah, Yeshua said:
Mat 12:40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
To proclaim that Messiah died on Friday and resurrected Sunday morning is to proclaim he is not the Messiah. It is impossible to get three days and three nights out of a Friday death and a Sunday resurrection! What else have you been lied to about?
One way to the Father
We believe with perfect faith that Yeshua is the only way to the Father.
While it may not be politically correct to say, the only way to be saved is through the work of Yeshua (Jesus). This fact is offensive to all religions outside of Christianity and the Messianic movement, but perhaps none so much as the religion of Judaism (s). It is never our desire to offend people in any way, but Messiah himself said:
Mat_18:7 Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
If the words of scripture offend a person, it has nothing personal to do with us; we can do nothing but proclaim the word, and let the chips fall where they may. It is written:
Joh 14:6 Yeshua said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.
Joh 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
Salvation by Grace
We believe with perfect faith that salvation is by grace alone, and that faith is revealed in our desire to obey the laws (Torah) of Elohim. Faith without works is dead.
Often times, Messianic believers are falsely accused of legalism; we are accused of teaching salvation by works. The fact is, Messianic believers believe fully in salvation by grace; salvation is a finished work, made possible by the death, burial and resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah. Let me be perfectly clear, no man can earn salvation by keeping any commandment - not of Elohim or man.
As Messianic believers, we believe in keeping the law (Torah) of YaHWeH, because of our salvation by grace – not to earn salvation. If we were not saved (by grace), there would be no point in keeping ANY commandment given by Elohim. The law (Torah) is for those that belong to YaHWeH; it is not a way to become the people of YaHWeH. This was true of Israel of old, and it is true of us today.
Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law (Torah), or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. (accomplish that which was spoken about Messiah)
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
In Matthew 5:20, the term “Righteousness” refers to the Torah and or commandments. The Scribes and Pharisees followed what is known as “Oral Torah”, it is a canon of traditions and twisted interpretations drawn from the Torah of YaHWeH. Most Christians confuse the oral torah with the scriptural Torah of YaHWeH. Yeshua said that our righteousness (Torah) must exceed the (oral torah) of the scribes and Pharisees; in other words, our Torah must be the written Torah of YaHWeH found in scripture, and not the oral torah of the scribes and Pharisees, drawn from scripture and tradition. WARNING: Do not let any man tell you that they are the same; mark them as liars or ignorant!!
Finally a word from Paul: Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law(Torah) through faith? Elohim forbid: yea, we establish the law (Torah).
Oneness of Elohim
We believe with perfect faith: Hear O Israel, YaHWeH is our Elohim; YaHWeH is one. (Deut. 6:4)
While all of Christianity proclaims faith in one Elohim, the Churches doctrine of “The Trinity” flies in the face of their confession. Many Messianic believers still cling to this Church doctrine, while tweaking it with terms like “triunity”; the fact is, the doctrine of the trinity is a pagan influenced teaching that is ripe with polytheistic trappings.
YaHWeH is ONE; The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all revelations of the one true Elohim. Yeshua, the Son, is the very spoken word of YaHWeH manifested in the flesh; he never existed as a person before the manifestation, but only as the invisible spoken word of Elohim. The Holy Spirit is the active power and creative force of YaHWeH, not a third person in some heavenly polyistic godhead.
Deu 6:4 Hear, O Israel: YaHWeH our Elohim, YaHWeH is one:
one, only, other, some, together.
To argue that echad (one) can only mean “unity” is ignorance of overall scripture; while the Hebrew word “echad (one) can mean a unity, context and overall scriptural witness must be applied. The scriptures make it clear – there is no Elohim but YaHWeH.
Isa_44:8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there an Elohim beside me? yea, there is no Elohim; I know not any.
Isa_44:24 Thus saith YaHWeH, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am YaHWeH that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;
We believe with perfect faith in the inspiration of the original autographs of the scriptures we believe in one complete canon of scripture, undivided, into two testaments.
This may be a bit more controversial. We believe in one canon of scripture, made up of the Torah (Genesis – Deuteronomy), the writings (history, wisdom and psalms), the Prophets, the Gospels (Matthew-John), and the epistles (Acts, Paul, other apostles/disciples); in other words, the protestant canon). That being said, we do not count the whole of scripture as the Word of YaHWeH, but it is a canon of scripture that contains within it, the words of YaHWeH. All scripture is inspired by YaH, but inspiration does not automatically translate into the very word of YaHWeH.
All scripture must be built upon and tested by the foundation of all scripture, which is the Torah. If any scripture, in anyway, alters the truth of Torah, while the overall book may be inspired, that specific scripture is not inspired. I personally have not found such an instance in scripture, but the principle stands nonetheless. (I have heard a lot of interpretation of scripture that would bring this principle into account).
We believe the original autographs of the scriptures were written in Hebrew and or Aramaic, and later translated into Greek; the only possible exceptions are the letters of Paul. That being said, even the letters of Paul, if they were written in Greek, were written by a Hebrew scholar who was translating Hebraic thoughts and concepts into the Greek language – as such, they are ripe for miscommunication due to the processes of language transference (especially when you add to that the translations into (Latin, German and English). When we add to the mix the infection of religious dogma and theological fear mongering, the writings of the epistles must be fully tested and approved by the foundation of Torah and prophetic revelation found in the TeNaKh (O.T.). One does not build a foundation on the roof of a house – this is the act of religion.
The Law (Torah)
We believe with perfect faith in the everlasting, unalterable law of Elohim; no law can ever be added to it or taken away from it. While some of the commandments may not be presently applicable in our dispersion, they are nonetheless eternal, and will be fully restored.
We believe in the words of Messiah, that the Law (Torah) of YaHWeH is eternal and that not one bit will be changed.
Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. (all has not yet been fulfilled, and won’t be until the end of the millennium Kingdom).
No writer of scripture has authority to change the Law (Torah) of YaHWeH; to do so automatically marks the individual as a false Prophet and or apostle. No new revelation of scripture does away with a previous revelation of scripture. The law (Torah) of YaHWeH is eternal and for all Israel; it is not Jewish law; it is the law of YaHWeH our Elohim. The term Israel refers to all who are in covenant with YaHWeH, it is not a term for a select race of people.
While we would like to see the full Torah of YaHWeH restored in the here and now, it is a fact that it is only in the state of being restored; many of the commandments of Torah will not be restored until Messiah returns and sets up his Kingdom. At best, for many commandments, we can only practice them as rehearsals. While we in the Messianic movement take great pride in keeping the Holy days of YaHWeH, the reality is, at best we are only rehearsing for the real thing.
Deu 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
Deu 13:1 If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams rises among you, and gives you a sign or a wonder,
Deu 13:2 and the sign or the wonder which he spoke to you occurs, saying, Let us go after other Elohim which you have not known, and let us serve them,
Deu 13:3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams. For YAHWEH your Elohim is testing you, to know if you love YAHWEH your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul.
Deu 13:4 You shall walk after YAHWEH your Elohim, and you shall fear Him. And you shall keep His commandments, and you shall hear His voice, and you shall serve Him, and you shall cleave to Him.
We believe with perfect faith that the oral laws of the Rabbis are not binding upon the children of YaHWeH; and this includes all Church dogma that does not line up with the Torah.
Whether we are speaking about Judaism or Christianity, the religious spirit is alive and well. Judaism is a religious system that is legislated by oral torah; it is the traditions of men, based on manipulation of Torah that guides this ancient religion. While there is much to be learned by our Jewish brethren, we are not being restored to Judaism, but to the Torah of YaHWeH. Christianity is also a religious system legislated by tradition; whereas Judaism has perverted the Torah and the Prophets to create their system of faith, Christianity has perverted the apostolic writings and infused within the matrix a plethora of pagan tradition and practice. Just as there is much to be learned from Judaism, there is much to be learned from Christianity – but neither Judaism nor Christianity is the apostolic pattern of faith.
As men and women who are being restored to the truth, we are being called back to the Torah of YaHWeH; we are being awakened to a Hebraic mindset. This restoration – this awakening – is a process; we are on a journey that will not be complete until our Messiah splits the Eastern skies and sets up his Kingdom on this Earth. The return to Torah is a matter of sanctification, it is not about justification; we do not keep the Torah to earn salvation; we keep Torah, because we are saved (for the lack of a better term).
While there may be much wisdom in the traditions of religion, those traditions must never be elevated to the commandments of YaHWeH. As Messianic believers, we follow many Jewish traditions, our Passover rehearsals would be very bland without the traditions of Judaism to give them structure; this is true of Sabbath and other faith issues.
Yeshua never railed against tradition; he railed against tradition that made the word of YaHWeH of no effect – there is a big difference! Tradition must be tested against the Torah of YaHWeH; whether that tradition is from Judaism or from Christianity. In ALL things, let YaHWeH be true and EVERY man a liar.
1John 3:4 whosoever committest sin transgresses also the law (Torah): for sin is the transgression of the law (Torah).
Sin is not the transgression of religious tradition and dogma; sin is the transgression of the Law of YaHWeH. We are not servants of men/religion, we are servants of YaHWeH. Do not elevate man to the position of Elohim.
Resurrection of the dead
We believe with perfect faith in the resurrection of the dead.
There is not a lot that can be added to this statement. We believe what is written in the scriptures:
1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Master, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Master (Yeshua) himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of YaHWeH: and the dead in Messiah shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Master (Yeshua) in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
This is the point where Messiah sets up his Kingdom on Earth for one thousand years. We do not believe in a pre-trib rapture; the “I’ll fly away” doctrine is not scriptural. We believe that the coming of Messiah, and the setting up of his Kingdom are simultaneous events.
The Name YHWH
We believe with perfect faith in the name of Elohim, and that name is YaHWeH (YHWH), and rejects the use of the titles (The LORD, God, Adonai...) in replace of His name. This is not to suggest that YaHWeH is not Lord/Adonai, but only that His name is not to be hidden by this and other titles.
The name of Elohim is YaHWeH (YHWH); while we hold no disunity with brethren who choose to spell/pronounce the name of Elohim in other ways, we do find detesting those who make such an issue a personal war. This also holds true in regards to the name of Messiah.
While YaHWeH holds many titles, His name has been revealed to be YaHWeH (YHWH) nearly 7,000 times in the TeNaKh (O.T.); and who knows how many times it is hidden in the apostolic writings.
The name YaHWeH is stealthfully hidden throughout the bible by the titles “the LORD” and GOD”; this was not done by the will of YaHWeH, but by the religious superstitions of men/scribes and translators.
Jer 8:8 How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the YaHWeH is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain.
Jer_9:5 And they will deceive everyone his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.
The deceptive practice of blotting out the name of Elohim (YaHWeH) is a practice initiated by the scribes of Judaism and continued by Christianity.
The use of the titles of YaHWeH, such as Lord, King, Father, Savior, Redeemer, almighty, etc…. are perfectly fine; but they must never be used to hide the true name YaHWeH.
There is good evidence that blotting out the name of Elohim is a transgression of the fourth commandment
Exo 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of YaHWeH thy Elohim in vain; for YaHWeH will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.
The Hebrew word that is translated as “vain” is the word “shav”, and it has the meaning of bringing something to nothing.
From the same as H7722 in the sense of desolating; evil (as destructive), literally (ruin) or morally (especially guile); figuratively idolatry (as false, subjectively), uselessness (as deceptive, objectively; also adverbially in vain): - false (-ly), lie, lying, vain, vanity.
As for the common title “God”, we have come to learn that this is the actual name of a Babylonian deity of luck and fortune, and therefore, we will not use this word in anyway in reference to YaHWeH.
Isa 65:11 But ye are they that forsake YaHWeH, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for Gad (pronounced God), and that furnish the drink offering unto that number.
We believe with perfect faith in the two house restoration of all Israel.
The two house restoration is the epitome of “the Gospel”. YaHWeH divorced and scattered the house of Israel (Ten Tribes) among the Gentiles in 723 BC and made a promise that he would one day send out fishermen to restore them to His eternal covenant.
Jer 16:14 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith YaHWeH, that it shall no more be said, YaHWeH liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
Jer 16:15 But, YaHWeH liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.
Jer 16:16 Behold, I will send for many fishermen, saith YaHWeH, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.
Yeshua the Messiah came and proclaimed the beginning of this restoration, a beginning that has taken on rapid fulfillment in our days.
Mar 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of YaHWeH is at hand: repent(return to the Torah), and believe the gospel.
Mar 1:16 Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
Mar 1:17 And Yeshua said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
While many have their own opinion as to the reason Yeshua came, Yeshua makes the reason for his coming very clear
Mat 15:24 But he (Yeshua) answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Let me make this clear, the lost sheep of the house of Israel is not a reference to the Jews; it is a reference from Prophecy directed at the Ten tribe house of Ephraim who YaHWeH divorced in 723BC; these Hebrews of the Northern tribes lost all identity as Israel and Hebrews and they became totally swallowed up by the nations, becoming Gentiles in every way.
Due to the nature of the Gentilization of the house of Israel, YaHWeH had to open a door for ALL Gentiles to return to the covenant as full Hebrews and Seeds of Abraham; this miraculous regeneration is the work of the Holy Spirit within the born again experience.
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Messiah, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2Co 5:18 And all things are of YaHWeH, who hath reconciled us to himself by Yeshua the Messiah, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
2Co 5:19 To wit, that YaHWeH was in Messiah, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
Gal 3:29 And if ye be Messiah’s, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Eph 2:11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
Eph 2:12 That at that time ye were without Messiah, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without YaHWeH in the world:
Eph 2:13 But now in Messiah Yeshua ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Messiah.
Eph 2:14 For he is our peace, who hath made both (the house of Judah and the house of Ephraim) one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in (manmade) ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Eph 2:16 And that he might reconcile both (houses of Israel) unto Elohim in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
Eph 2:17 And came and preached peace to you (Ephraim)which were afar off, and to them( Judah) that were nigh.
New (renewed) Covenant
We believe with perfect faith that the New (renewed) covenant is for the two houses of Israel alone. All who desire to take part in the New (renewed) covenant must become seeds of Abraham (Isaac and Jacob). The new (renewed covenant) is not for the Gentiles.
YaHWeH made His covenant with Israel; He did not make His covenant with the Gentiles. That being said, He is a gracious and loving Elohim, who loves all of His creation and doesn’t desire that any should perish. Before Messiah came, YaH made provisions for the Nations by allowing them to enter Israel (His covenant people) by becoming strangers and alien residents; it is written that there would be one law for Israel and for the stranger that dwelt among them. Fast forward to the coming of Messiah, and the beginning restoration of the house of Israel; the house of Israel (Ephraim) was booted out of the covenant in 723BC for their failure to guard the commandments of YaHWeH; Ephraim wanted to live like the Gentiles, so YaHWeH caused them to become Gentiles. In order that YaHWeH could keep His promise of restoration to Ephraim, He had to open a door to all nations (Gentiles) to become Hebrews (the seed of Abraham); in order for YaHWeH to re- graft this wild olive branch back into the natural olive tree, He had to recon all Gentiles who answered the call as the lost sheep of the house of Israel; this is the message of the gospel; this is the message of Paul to the Gentiles.
When a Gentile answers the call/message of the gospel (RESTORATION), they become the seed of Abraham; they become new (renewed) creations in Messiah; old things (identities) are passed away and all things become new. Identity is everything; we must be able to internalize this very real miracle of the born again experience that we might cease to behave as Gentiles and start living as Hebrews.
Gifts of the Holy Spirit
We believe in perfect faith in the gift of the Holy Spirit (Ruach Hakodesh); we believe in the gift of tongues, as well as the gifts of the spirit.
The gift of the Holy Spirit is promised to all who repent of their sins (Torah transgressions) and receive the work of Yeshua the Messiah on their behalf. The Holy Spirit is not a New Testament phenomenon; it was alive and well in the Prophets and Israel of old. There does seem to be a new mission (if you will) of the Holy Spirit; whereas the Holy Spirit at one time moved on individuals for certain ministry purposes, the Holy Spirit was now to anoint all believers in Messiah and regenerate them as new creations (Hebrews). Even the Jews (who never lost covenant standing) had to be born again of the Spirit, in order to be counted as Abraham’s seed (I understand that is controversial and offensive to some); but we can see this clearly taught by Yeshua in his dealings with the Pharisees and Nicodemus. In other words, it is not those who are physically born the seed of Abraham that are counted as the seed, but those who are born of the will of YaHWeH.
We believe in the gift of speaking in tongues – as the Spirit gives utterance; let me qualify that statement. We do not believe in teaching people to speak in tongues, or in mimicking what one has heard; true tongues is that which flows like a river from YaHWeH. It is my personal opinion that the babbling of tongues is due to the impossibility for our carnal mind and tongue to express the divine utterances that flow forth. We do not teach or believe that speaking in tongues is necessary to be considered saved; neither do we hold to a belief that tongues only come forth in the form of babbling or unknown words. The expressions of speaking in tongues may come forth as tears, weeping or other manifestations.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit are in full force; as are all offices of the body of Messiah.
We believe with perfect faith in the Seventh day Sabbath. (Sunset Friday to sunset Saturday)
As believers in the continuation of Torah, we obviously believe in keeping the seventh day Sabbath sanctified by YaHWeH our Creator. The Sabbath begins at sunset Friday evening (which biblically begins the new day) and ends at sunset on Saturday evening.
In our dispersion among the nations, Sabbath can be a difficult commandment to keep; yet it is a blessed gift and appointment that our Father has set down for all time. There are many traditions within Judaism regarding the keeping of the Sabbath (Shabbat); some of these traditions are rebuked by Messiah, but many of them are not. The most important thing to do on Sabbath is to rest, and the second thing to do – if you are able – is to join with other believers in fellowship and worship.
There is always the danger of turning your Sabbath rest into some legalistic ritual; this is what the Pharisees had done to great lengths; the Pharisaic legalism is still alive and well within many sects of Judaism, and even within fringe elements of the Messianic movement.
Many fringe groups and or believers will condemn worship of YaHWeH on Sunday, as if the first day of creation is evil or taboo; TTM does not support such unscriptural legalism as this. Sunday (the first day of the week) is not, nor has it ever been, the Sabbath; it is a wonderful day of the creation work of YaHWeH. Sunday is not scripturally designated as “The Lord’s day”, this is a fabrication of Christianity. That being said, Sunday is a wonderful day to worship YaHWeH and enjoy fellowship with friends and family – as is any other day of the week. I would only add to this that we make sure are Sabbath rest and observance be set apart from the other days of the week; if our Sunday or Wednesday is no different than our Sabbath, how have we obeyed the commandment to sanctify the Sabbath. Shabbat shalom.
We believe with perfect faith in immersion in water in the name of Yeshua the Messiah (Acts 2:38).
We believe that Water Immersion (Baptism) is only for adults, and children who have come to the age of accountability. Immersion is to be performed by the individual, with one or more witnesses present. Immersion is to be in living water (preferably) and in water deep enough to immerse the entire body. While we do not say the immersion cannot be done by a minister, it is preferable for the individual to immerse themselves in front of witnesses. The person who is being immersed is to first repent of their sins – it is important that the person being immersed understand that sin is the transgression of the Law (Torah) of YaHWeH. The act of repenting is not only summed up in pious sorrow for breaking YaHWeH’s law (Torah); but also the full intent on learning and practicing the law (Torah) from this point forward. The return to Torah is a process, and one should expect they will need to repent along their journey of restoration.
When the individual is ready to be immersed, they should do so according to Acts 2:38
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be immersed every one of you in the name of Yeshua the Messiah for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
An example may be: “Father YaHWeH, I come before you in the name of your son Yeshua; I have sinned in not keeping your righteous commandments; I repent of my sins and seek to learn and follow your Torah; I immerse myself in the name of your son Yeshua the Messiah for the remission of all my sins, and ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit”.
*Please note that the above quote is only an example, and not to be deemed some legalistic formula.
We believe with perfect faith that the only definition for sin is transgression of the Torah (The commandments of Elohim).
There are many things in this life that is not advisable, but not everything that is ill-advised is a sin. Sin is the transgression of the Torah of YaHWeH; it is not defined simply as bad choices. When we break a commandment given by YaHWeH, we have committed sin. Sin is not the transgression of the oral torah of the Rabbis; sin is also not the transgression of a Church or denominations standards and dogma.
1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law (Torah): for sin is the transgression of the law (Torah).
Rom 4:15 …for where no law (Torah) is, there is no transgression.
It is because the law of YaHWeH is still binding on all His covenant people that we are so in need of Grace. If the law is annulled, grace is a useless commodity. If the law is nailed to the cross, we have no need to repent, or even have anything to repent of.
Congregational rules and standards are very important, as are rules in any organization; but those rules – as important as they may be – are not to be used to define what sin is (unless the rules are taken directly and in context from the Torah).
